About the course

This online training course is designed to cover all of the learning topics of an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, but completing the online course will not grant you the qualification itself, as the training and exam for this must be taken in-person. This training course will provide you with the knowledge and theory required to give you the confidence to go into a practical exam, and ultimately administer first aid.

You will receive an e-learning certificate of completion upon successfully passing the course, making it a great choice for blended learning programmes, or as an induction, refresher or revision tool.

Emergency First Aid at Work Course overview

Each lesson is a maximum of 6 mins long, making it easy to quickly make fantastic progress, even if you only have a small amount of time each day.

Here’s what we’ll be covering in each lesson

Lesson 01 - Understanding the role and responsibilities of a first-aider

• The course kicks off by looking at the role legislation and consent
• It moves on to responsibilities, equipment and processes
• And finally a look at clearing up, record keeping and minimising risk

Lesson 02 - Assessing incidents

• Lesson 2 begins by looking at scene surveys
• What to do when arriving on scene
• And when to call for help

Lesson 03 - Managing an unresponsive casualty

• Lesson 3 begins with assessing a casualty’s level of consciousness
• We look at the recovery position and respiratory system
• And end with information on cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Lesson 04 - Recognising and assisting a choking casualty

• Lesson 4 begins with looking at how to recognise a choking casualty
• We then learn about partially and completely blocked airways, hypoxia
• Before finishing on first aid to a choking casualty

Lesson 05 -  Treating casualties with external bleeding and shock

• Lesson 5 begins with an explanation of the circulatory system
• We look at major bleeds and the heart
• Types of Wounds and Bleeding
• Different treatments and dressings
• What to do with embedded foreign objects
• And finish off with a look at hypovolemic shock

Lesson 06 -  Treating casualties with external bleeding and shock

• Lesson 6 covers contusions and minor cuts & grazes
• And ends with a look at superficial burns and splinters
